Can you name all 14 countries of Oceania?
Explore the 14 countries in this Oceania map quiz, including Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific island countries. Many answers cover very small land areas, so use the zoom controls and take your time. Review any missing countries when you finish.
How to play
- Type the name of any country in the box at the bottom of the map. Capital letters, accents and punctuation do not matter, and common alternative names are accepted.
- A correct name is accepted by itself after a short pause. It turns green on the map and is ticked off in its group below the map. A wrong name costs nothing; just keep typing.
- Use the + and − buttons to zoom in on small countries, then drag to move around. With the map selected, the + and − keys zoom and the arrow keys move it. Select a country you have named to highlight it.
- There is no timer. The game ends when you have named all 14, or press Finish at any time to end it and reveal the countries you missed.
- Your result is saved in this browser. Once enough people have played a game, the results also show how your score ranks, and you can copy or share an image of your result, or replay.
Tips for playing
Start with Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea, then work across the Pacific island groups. Remember Nauru and Tuvalu as well as Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga. “Micronesia” and “Federated States of Micronesia” are both accepted for the same answer.

Small land areas, large distances
A world-scale map makes the Pacific look empty because many islands occupy very little of it. Zooming helps with visibility, but you can still type an island country’s name without finding a clickable patch.
After the larger land masses, use small groups of island countries as recall prompts. Treat the counter as a check on the game’s list rather than an exhaustive count of every inhabited Pacific territory.
Which countries count?
This game uses a 14-country Oceania list. The Cook Islands, Niue, and dependent territories are not separate answers. Indonesia and Timor-Leste are grouped with Asia. Country totals can differ between quizzes that use other inclusion rules.
