Can you name all 12 flags of South America?
Name the country behind each of the 12 flags of South America, from Argentina to Venezuela. Watch for close pairs such as Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela, and Argentina and Uruguay. Wrong guesses can be tried again, there is no timer, and the run is complete when you have named all 12.
How to play
- A flag fills the board. Type the name of its country in the box below. Capital letters, accents and punctuation do not matter, and common alternative names such as “Ivory Coast” or “UK” are accepted.
- A correct answer is accepted by itself after a short pause and the next round begins. Press Enter to check any other answer.
- A wrong guess is marked so you can try again, as often as you like. There is no timer.
- Stuck? Press Finish to end the run: the answer is revealed and that flag counts as missed.
- The 12 flags of South America come in shuffled order, each once. Your score counts up to 12 at the top of the board, and naming the last one completes the run. The answer review below the board lists every round.
- Your result is saved in this browser. Once enough people have played a game, the results also show how your score ranks, and you can copy or share an image of your result, or replay.
Tips for playing
Read each flag in three passes: the layout (bands, a cross, a triangle), the order of the colours from the flagpole or from the top, then any emblem. Often the emblem is the only difference: Ecuador’s flag is Colombia’s with a coat of arms added.

- Argentina and Uruguay: light blue and white with a golden sun; Argentina has three bands with the sun in the centre, Uruguay nine stripes with the sun in the top corner.
- Bolivia’s red, yellow and green bands, shown without the coat of arms, match Ghana’s apart from Ghana’s black star.
- Paraguay’s red, white and blue bands match the Netherlands’ apart from the emblem in the centre.
